HOW DOES CUSTOM ART WORK?

While it might seem like a scary and complicated process, having a custom pet portrait created is actually pretty easy. Follow the steps below and read the photo tips to make sure you get the best possible end result.

THE STEPS

The information below apply to all custom art products.

step 1

Choose your favorite design, and then select the product you want from the options shown. Select your color, size, or style as applicable. Enter your information in the customizable fields as prompted. Complete your transaction.

step 2

Once you've placed your order, upload your image or images into
this folder.

If you are including images for more than one pet, please make sure the files are identified with pet names.

step 3

Watch your email. Depending on my schedule, you'll see a draft for placement and sizing within 48 hours.*

Once you approve the draft, I will send a final proof. Review it carefully. When you approve the final proof, your portrait will go into production. I'll send you tracking information when your piece ships.

step 4

Frame and hang your print, fill your mug and hop in the car, or wear your shirt around town and feel great knowing that you've helped some animals who need someone to advocate for them.

NOTE: The 48 hour turnaround time applies to standard designs shown on the site. Custom commissions take longer. Please allow 2–3 weeks for a proof of commissioned artwork.

photo guide and tips

Follow the tips below when taking your pet's photo, or keep them in mind when selecting images to submit. However, don't worry if you can't follow the steps exactly. I check all of the images as I get them. If I don't think your photo or photos will work, I'll let you know. I'm happy to work with you to get the perfect image.

For the best results, take your photo at eye level or from a slightly overhead angle and facing your pet directly.

Do your best to take your photo in natural daylight. To avoid red eye, which will look weird, don't use a flash.

Make sure no parts of your dog are cropped out, and make sure there are no hands or human parts touching your pet.

While action shots are great, they don't make for good portraits. Choose a still image with no motion or blur.
