A NEWSLETTER. ABOUT DOGS. OBVIOUSLY.

Hey, you came back!
We were hoping you would. Pull up a dog bed, grab something warm to drink, and settle in — there's a lot happening in this issue.
We've got a shelter dog who is ready to run circles around your heart (and possibly your yard), a deep dive into the latest internet debate, some ways to do good without doing much, and a couple of new features we're pretty excited about. Same MBL energy as always: a little sharp, a little silly, completely sincere about the dogs.
Let's get into it!

SHELTER DOG SPAWTLIGHT
Meet Gemini.
She's young, she's energetic, and she has opinions — mostly about crinkle toys, prefilled bones, and the concept of idle time (she's against it).
Gemini is a young female Pit Bull Terrier who recently came back from a trial adoption — not because anything was wrong with her, but because her adopter was working 12+ hour days and Gemini, understandably, was not about that life. She's got playful energy for days and needs an outlet, not a waiting room.
Here's the Gemini report card: loves being outside, great with prefilled bones and crinkle toys, not a crate enthusiast (but she holds it and keeps it clean — give her credit), has been known to shred a dog bed with enthusiasm, and needs some polish on basic commands. She did well with a small child in her trial home, though her energy level was a bit much for that particular kid. The shelter is open to meet-and-greets with children and with male dogs.
The ideal Gemini household has active humans, a yard, or both. If you've been looking for a dog who will actually go on that run with you instead of looking at you like you've lost your mind, she might be your girl.

FRESH FETCH
It's Mother's Day. Let's Talk About It.
The internet is, as always, having a "Moment."
This year's edition: are dog moms real moms? And look — we're not here to declare a winner. But we are here to point out that someone in this house wipes faces, manages bathroom schedules, prepares meals three times a day, and pays tuition. Her name is Kim. The beneficiaries are Pike and Gus. And on Sunday, if someone wishes her a Happy Mother's Day, she will be accepting it without apology.
The new post is up. It's got feelings. It's got nuance. It's got a small amount of all-caps energy. Go read it.

Doodles for Donations — Get One, Help One
My Barking Life's Doodles for Donations merch is still out here doing the thing. Every purchase puts dollars toward shelter dogs in need — which means you get something cute AND a dog somewhere gets a little help. That's what we in the business call a win-win.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

The Barking Half Dozen
Every dog in this series is real, adoptable, and entirely too good to be sitting in a kennel right now. This week we featured six dogs from the Venango County Humane Society in Seneca, PA. Find it on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.

What's Breed Got To Do With It?
MBL's new breed spotlight series that goes beyond the Wikipedia summary to look at the real personality, history, quirks, and common misconceptions behind the dogs we love (and the ones we maybe don't understand yet). First installment is coming soon!
Until next time
Thanks for being here — seriously.
Every open, every share, every adoption inquiry that starts with a Bark Bits Spawtlight makes this worth doing.
Go hug your dogs. Tell them MBL says hey.
WOOF!
