His name is Anubis. As in: the ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife, guardian of the dead, protector of souls. That's a lot of name to live up to — and based on his photos, he seems completely unbothered by the pressure.

Anubis is an adult male Cane Corso, brindle and white, currently waiting at the Stark County Dog Warden Division in Canton, Ohio. He's big, he's striking, and he's sitting in a county pound where the clock ticks a little faster than most people realize.

The Cane Corso is a working breed with deep roots — bred as a guardian, a hunter's companion, a farmhand's right paw. They're loyal, observant, and deeply bonded to their people. They're also the kind of dog that doesn't do well waiting indefinitely in a kennel environment. Anubis needs a home that understands the breed — someone who can match his presence with patience, structure, and a solid couch to share.
